The name of the development, Mill-Iron D Estates, was taken from the stock brand used on the Deer Creek Valley Ranch by the Dozier family. The brand itself dates from the 1880s. The Dozier’s have owned the right to use it since 1950. The brand looks like this:
The first symbol is actually half of a mill iron:
The centers of the mill iron and its mirror image were wrapped around a free turning post. The extensions would have harnessed horses attached. When the horses walked in a circle, turning the post, the energy was use to grind grain.
